Actors Ai Wai and Rachel Lam Hei Tung two nights ago promotoed their film LA LOL (NGOR LO POR MEI GIT FUN) with a performance on the streets of Causeway Bay. Ai Wai sang and drew a crowd. He said, "Normally I sing, but today I am off. Because I only got off work after 8 this morning, my voice is very hoarse. (Will you enter the music scene?) The oldest new artist award will definitely be mine."

LA two days ago opened at only three cinemas, its box office was even "in crisis". Lam Hei Tung joked, "These cinemas all have heaven and earth showings. 20 tickets sold for the early show is already a miracle. In the afternoon one in Tseung Kwan O sold 3 tickets." Ai Wai would stop at nothing to "campaign" for the film. He joked that he almost wore a bikini.

Vampire sightings in Shau Kei Wan? New film VAMPIRE CLEAN UP DEPARTMENT (GAU GEUNG CHING DOH FU) earlier arranged for two "vampires" to promote in the Shau Kei Wan pedestrian subway and a "victim" to be "eaten". In the end not only pretty girls were scared out of their wits, even big men and uncles turned around and ran.

VAMPIRE lead actor Babyjohn Choi Hong Yik said, "I have seen a lot of that before, overseas pedestrians were scared out of their minds. However I never thought about sending people running when I did it. Actually I am sorry to make people mistake that someone was hurt or attacked, but I want to thank those who played along with me and catch vampires together." Finally Babyjohn invited pedestrians to stick fu on the two vampires to subdue them and calmed everyone down.

Wharf Holdings dropped a bombshell last week when it suddenly announced its imminent exit from the unprofitable pay TV business. Its decision to pull the plug on i-Cable has shattered hopes for the pay TV industry and set off alarm bells across the media.

In a stunning revelation, i-Cables parent company said it was giving up on the pay TV and internet service provider amid losses for nine consecutive years last years being HK$313 million. Despite a desperate attempt to sell the business, Wharf has yet to find a buyer.

It means the citys oldest pay TV station may die when its current licence expires on May 31 even though it was recently renewed for 12 years until 2029.

i-Cables Fantastic TV set to launch on May 14

Not only could the move leave over 2,000 i-Cable staff out of work, it will also raise questions about the future of its affiliate, Fantastic TV, a new free-to-air TV station set to launch in May.

It also reflects the uncertainty facing the TV sectors survival following the closure of Asia Television (ATV), the worlds oldest Chinese-language TV broadcaster, in May last year after 59 years in operation.

Times are also tough for new player Viu TV, a free-to-air broadcaster launched last March by PCCWs HK Television Entertainment, and media giant Television Broadcasts (TVB), which in January gave up its pay TV licence and shifted the operation TVB Vision Network to a set-top service after raking up losses of HK$2.2 billion.

If maverick businessman Ricky Wong Wai-kays description of the industrys ills is anything to go by, it boils down to those who aspire to do it are not allowed to while those who want to quit are forced to undertake it.

Wong is chairman of HKTV, whose bid for ..... (article cut to save bandwidth)

Richie Jen (Yam Yin Chai) earlier spoke to the media. Speaking of being nominated for Best actor with his TRIVISA (SHU DAI JIU FUNG) co-star Gordon Lam Ka Tung, he stated that he hoped the other lead actor Jordan Chan Siu Chun would have been nominated as well. "Actually Chan Siu Chun's character might be more exaggerated but we studied it and his was the hardest to play among the three of us. If Siu Chun was nominated it would have been better." Siu Chai also had nothing but praise for Lam Ka Tung. "He could get into character at anytime, I really admire his outstanding acting."

Jackie Chan said that whether at work or in life he was an "environmental protection star". He not only supported environment protection with his action but also motivated everyone around him to join the cause. The big screen showed Jackie Chan's environmental protection deeds around the world, which led to everyone's applause. Jackie Chan said, "In comparison to action scenes in the film, environmental protection is even harder. From the start people around me didn't understand either. Actually it's just like charity work, environmental protection is not a show. I started with me, from Jackie Chan's Stuntman Association on, little by little, slowly I affected even more people. The strength of one person was very limited, but when everyone ..... (article cut to save bandwidth)
