Francis Ng Chun Yu, Nancy Wu Ting Yan, Ken Wong Tak Bun, Tony Wu Tsz Tung and director Sunny Chan Wing Sun yesterday were guest presenters at the Hong Kong dragon boat carnival and promoted their film MEN ON THE DRAGON (YIK LAU DAI SHOOK). Ting Yan was very popular with the dragon boat athletes. Ting Yan thanked Chun Yu for approaching her with the movie and bringing her to the silver screen. Chun Yu joked that other female stars were getting married, having babies and "retiring". Since Ting Yan was not a parent yet and had charm, he asked her to perform.

Chun Yu revealed that this production was very pleasant. He said that in the film he had to row the dragon boat. He would even flirt with the girls on the other dragon boas and ask, "What kind of dragon is yours?" Ting Yan said that in the film she did not have to row. She said, "This is my first film, a new beginning. I thank Chun Yu for asking me." Why would Chun Yu ask Ting Yan to make a movie? He joked, "The others were all married, having children, they have completed their historic mission and retired in glory. Since Ting Yan isn't a parent yet and has charm, I asked her."

In the film Ting Yan played a single mother. Chun Yu was her "soldier" (Someone who would do anything the object of his affection). ..... (article cut to save bandwidth)

Carlos Chan Ka Lok, Bryant Mak Chi Lok and Carmen Soup (Tong Ka Man) recently worked together on BUYER BEWARE (GUK OK). The trio while shooting in Malaysia ran into supernatural incidents. Chan Ka Lok said that in one scene he was shooting photos with a mobile phone at an unit. Due to an angle issue, he thought, "It would be great if someone would prop up my arm!" Then he really felt a force propping up his arm. After the shoot he realized no one was around. At the time he was a little scared, but he felt that someone was helping him.

In addition, Chan Ka Lok could not help but complain about the shoot. "I was sick for a long time when I made this film, toothache, fever and voice loss. I even had to see a dentist there. Several scenes even needed post production voice work. Everyone said that I was like that because I didn't participate in the worship ceremony, but as a Christian I couldn't." Mak Chi Lok and Tong Ka Man went to the casino on their free time. They said that they have never won money before, that day they bet on their hotel room number and won.

In the film they were all being scared. Would they like to try scaring people in their next horror film? Chan Ka Lok turned it down right away and said that special effect make up was quite a pain. He said that once he saw an ..... (article cut to save bandwidth)

Did Not Answer to 'Jessie'! Michael Tao Reveals the Mystery of Kenix Kwok Becoming 'Car Keys'

Sunday June 24, 2018 Hong Kong

The "Detective Investigation Files" series has been re-airing late at night but is still being highly praised after 23 years. Producer Poon Ka Tak held a dinner gathering of the cast and crew. Many series actors, including Michael Tao, Kenix Kwok, Amy Kwok, Margaret Chung, Charmaine Sheh, Catherine Chau, Joe Ma, Derek Kwok, Gabriel Harrison, Maggie Chan, et al. were in attendacne. [Michael and Kenix] frankly said that they have not seen each other in a long time, although they have previously encountered each other while doing stage performances in Mainland. Kenix frankly said that it was hard to come by; unknowingly, the series was already filmed 23 years ago.

Michael also provided a humourous explanation for 'che si' (car keys); he said, "Everyone also questioned me calling 'Jessie' by the wrong pronunciation. Said 'car keys' because she did not answer to 'Jessie'. Only answered to 'car keys'. Previously, [my] friends also followed along and called her that". Kenix said that it was all because of these 'car keys' that everyone had so many memories. Michael also said that this series finished airing its rerun on July 1st...also reluctant to let it go. He said, "Back then, the viewers really liked guessing whom the killer was, and there was also a hotline in which you could play a guess-the-killer game". When Kenix was asked whether she let her child watch this series, she said, "Would also. Would also let her watch it after studying!"

John Chiang Dai Wai earlier appeared on a radio program. Started as a child star, John Gor once was a Shaw stuntman. He caught the eyes of his mentor big director Chang Chen, with VENGEANCE! (BO SAU) he became Hong Kong's first "Asian Best Actor" in 1970 and rose to fame in the film industry. Back then he made countless classic martial art films for Shaw, but later when he became a director he mainly made heart warming films. He explained, "I feel that I would never be as good as Sifu Chang Cheh and Lau Ka Leung. Why would I want to destroy the image that Director Chang Cheh has given me for so long? I can't destroy that!" John Gor admitted that films that he directed were mostly critical but not commercial successes, including the 1986 film SILENT LOVE (TING BUK DOH DIK SUET WA) with Season Ma and first time lead actor Sean Lau Ching Wan. "I prefer to make heart warming films. Because those films didn't have huge budgets, and at the time I saw Lau Ching Wan on television and thought he was decent, very alternative, so I asked him to be the lead actor. Season Ma too. Although this movie didn't make money, but at least ..... (article cut to save bandwidth)

Tony Leung Chiu Wai yesterday suddenly sent a text to the media. "All reporter friends how are you, I am Leung Chiu Wai. My management contract with Jet Tone has been completed and ended. From now on for any work need, you can temporarily contact my wife Lau Ka Ling. Thank you everyone." The unexpeced "break up" announcement with Jet Tone has led to speculation everywhere.

Suddenly announcing his Jet Tone contract completion, Leung Chiu Wai ended his 30 year manager relationship with Wong Kar Fai. Carina Lau Ka Ling said, "I am only lending him a helping hand before he finds a suitable manager, I am just a contact!"

As for the reason of Wai Jai's departure from Jet Tone, Ka Ling said, "I have to respect Mr. Leung's intention and let him speak for himself!" She opened an entertainment culture industry company to produce film and television ..... (article cut to save bandwidth)

Cheung Tat Ming and Kam Kwok Leung yesterday were guest presenters at Radio Hong Kong's Hong Kong Book Prize. Tat Ming joked that the event probably invited the wrong person. Although he has written a few books he belonged to the stage division. However Tat Ming expressed that when he was little he madly followed Louis Cha and Ni Kuang's work. He also came in contact with classic Chinese literature JOURNEY TO THE WEST, LEGEND OF THE WATER MARGIN and ROMANCE OF THE THREE KINGDOMS. Later he also fell for foreign cultures as he would not miss any Nobel Prize winning books. He said that when he came in contact with the stage, he also ran into Hong Kong novelist Eileen Chang and Lilian Lee Pik Wah's work and felt that literature could interact and influence film mutually. "Now the stage is doing the sam thing. I would adapt my first award winning play to silver screen with (Francis) Ng Chun Yu, (Anita) Yuen Wing Yi, (Louis) Koo Tin. I also plan to turn two of my other plays into movies." Would he write another book? Tat Ming said that he would write, but now he would mainly write scripts. Because his scripts would be written in Cantonese, its culture would not be as deep as writing a novel.
