Resident Evil Revelations 2 will feature microtransactions, it has been revealed.
Capcom told Kotaku that microtransactions will be limited to Raid Mode and won't be used in the main campaign.
Users will be able to purchase "life crystals", which will "act as continues (respawns) in Raid mode when players die".
"Blue life crystals can be earned through playing daily missions and red life crystals can be bought," a Capcom spokesperson explained.
"The two crystals act the same, but there's an option to buy if players run out of blue (earned) crystals or don't want to spend the time earning them.
"If players have both blue and red crystals, the game will prioritise the blue crystals over the red ones. Again, these are only used in Raid mode and not in the main campaign."
Resident Evil: Revelations 2 will debut on February 24 on PS3 and PS4 in North America, with a European launch one day later on the 25th.
The Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC release will also be on February 25.
Each individual episode will be available for £4.99 ($5.99), or as part of a £19.99 ($24.99) season pass with additional game content. A retail edition is also planned.
Season pass holders will have access to all four episodes and two spinoff episodes involving Moira Burton and Natalia Korda, as well as Hunk as an additional Raid mode character.
