A new controller for Pokken Tournament has been revealed by Bandai Namco.

The gamepad for the upcoming arcade fighting title sports a six-button layout, which includes a traditional D-pad.

The controller resembles the look of the Super Famicom controller, according to Siliconera.

Producer Katsuhiro Harada said the design was chosen with beginner arcade players in mind - so that veterans and newcomers alike would be able to enjoy the game.

Bandai Namco recently unveiled the title's first gameplay trailer, which confirms new playable characters Pikachu, Gardevoir and Suicune.

Pokken Tournament is set to debut later this year in Japanese arcades, with no console versions announced as yet.
