Snapchat reportedly has plans to break into content publishing and commission original video content for its users.
Videos produced by Snapchat will appear alongside material from ESPN, CNN and Vice in the forthcoming 'Discover' section, according to Digiday.
The messaging service is said to have recruited journalists, filmmakers and animators in recent months to spearhead its original content push.
This footage will be supported by adverts, specially configured to suit the platform.
Vevo was allegedly on board as a content provider before the deal broke down after the companies failed to agree on a revenue split.
Snapchat's 'Discover' section is an extension of the 'Our Story' feature that launched last year, serving users highlights from special events alongside messages from their contacts.
