Jessica Hsuan joined Alex Fong (Lik San), Chan Kai Tai and Flora Chan in a promotional event for this years Legislative Council elections and the organisers of the event had arranged for three parachutists to help with the activities as they landed in Victoria Harbour. As the event took place around noon and the sun shone directly overhead, the guests were forced to stand in the heat and sunlight for about half an hour, leaving them sweating buckets. Afterwards, Jessica immediately ran into the tent to rest a while because she said that the sun had left her a little dizzy.

Jessica has just returned to Hong Kong from America, where she attended her cousin's wedding and had a vacation. She reveals that she caught the bride's bouquet at the wedding and everyone immediately cheered. Jessica says that this is the second time that she has caught a wedding bouquet and this time many friends and relatives asked her when she would be getting married. Later, she will be attending another cousin's wedding in Australia and the reporters laughed that if she receives the bouquet again, then it is definitely time for her to get married.

Alex was very curious about the three parachutists and often looked around inquisitively. He would like to try parachuting as well as bungee jumping, but he has not yet had the opportunity. He laughs that although he has never tried these exhilarating activities, he still feels he is quite a brave person. Alex also says that he has seen the reports about Stephy Tang giving her first screen kiss to Sam Mei, laughing that as she they are from the same company, he will pay particular attention. He says that he has worked many times with the Cookies girls as well as Rain Li, but he has not had much chance to work with other female artistes. When asked if he was jealous about the news surrounding his rumoured girlfriend, he jokes: "What it to do with me, I can't get jealous after every time someone has a kiss!"

Jessica Hsuan will be celebrating her birthday on 18th August and appearing at the August Birthday Stars event yesterday, she indicated that she will begin filming for her new series a few days before her birthday, so she may not have time to celebrate nearer the time. Talking of this being her first birthday spent with her new boyfriend and this having a special meaning, Jessica says: "I know, so I hope that I will be able to have dinner with him." Does she want him to buy her a car or a house for her birthday? Jessica laughs: "This is only what a husband should get a wife, but we are just dating, so this is not necessary."

[Oriental Daily, Ta Kung Pao & The Sun]

Jessica Hsuan, Sunny Chan, Patrick Tang and Dave Wang were among the cast members gathered at TVB City yesterday for the costume fitting of new series "My Wife, Your Honour". Jessica reveals that when she and Sunny worked together on "Secret of the Heart", he had promised her that if no-one wanted her, he would marry her, but when Jessica found out that he was already married, she was devastated and joked that if no-one wants her in the future, she would have to be Sunny's mistress.

Jessica plays a judge in the new show and responding to the comments that TVB had tailor made this show for her in order to keep her on their books, Jessica denies this, but pledges to treasure this opportunity she has been given, because TVB rarely makes shows that have the female as the central lead.

In the series, Jessica and Sunny have a baby and at the event, Sunny would not let go of the baby actor, constantly telling the baby to call him 'Daddy' and attracting jokes that he is extremely broody. Sunny admits that he has been busy making babies with his wife, but as he will be filming, this will be put back by a few months.

Also, Patrick denies rumours that he has been actively flirting with Bobo Chan, saying that you don't need to flirt with friends, just communicate and whenever he goes out with Bobo, his girlfriend Marsha Yuen is well aware of it, so their relationship is not affected at all. He will not allow this to affect his friendship with Bobo either, praising her for being pretty and direct. As their experience in the music industry are similar in that they are struggling, then they feel a connection and can talk to each other, but she has not mentioned anything about her split with Edison Chen.

After over ten years away from TVB series, Dave Wang was back in TVB for discussions about the show yesterday and he indicates that he is back after his old friend Tommy Leung offered the invitation and he jumped at the chance to return a favour to him.

Dave says: "I have not filmed any TVB series for over ten years and although I made a telemovie earlier, this is the first time I have played a judge. My character is very stubborn but honest and is even a little amusing, with scenes from beginning to end." As for whether Dave will be singing the theme song, he says that this will be down to his record company to arrange and his salary is okay. When asked how much 'okay' was, he says: "Usually for singers to film in TVB series, the fee is a few hundred dollars an episode, but not for me. You would not get me for a few hundred dollars, but we all know that filming for TVB will not earn you as much as the companies elsewhere." Although Dave indicates he is back purely on the grounds of doing Tommy a favour, there are still rumours that the real reason he is back is that there are not as many opportunities outside. He says: "All I have to do is agree and there will be plenty of opportunities for me. In any case, I am happy to work with Jessica and Sunny and I have made arrangements with Tommy that I will have enough time to rest."

Dave reveals that his asthma was very bad in March and April and the medication left him bloated and swollen. Now the hard times are past and he will not let himself be so swollen any more. However, he is worried that filming another series will affect his voice, so he has been looking after himself. He will also be appearing in many of his own suits in the show.

[Ta Kung Pao, The Sun & Oriental Daily]

This year's Miss Hong Kong pageant final will be taking place this Friday (13th) and a meeting with the judges was arranged for the contestants yesterday. As well as judges Jessica Hsuan and Gigi Leung, MC Natalis Chan and guest performer Hacken Lee were also at the press event. The girls appeared in a range of dress styles, with number 8 Winnie Shum and number 14 Kayee Tsang in the sexiest numbers.

Number 17 Bonnie Cheung and number 4 Jaymee Tang have both returned from Australia to take part in the contest and there have been reports that suggest that they knew each other before the contest, but pretended not to when they met in Hong Kong. The reports also say that Bonnie has strong backing, with veteran artist Sima Yin as her nominator as well as being an active part of the local Chinese community. The two clarified the situation, explaining that they only met each other after returning to Hong Kong and did not know each other before. As for the reports of Bonnie's background in Australia, she explains that as the Chinese community is only small there, so it is easy to meet people. She takes part in many Lion's club activities to expand her experiences.

As well as performing with Hacken at the final, Gigi Leung will also be a judge for the Miss Photogenic award. She admits that there is a great pressure on her because her decision could change the future of one of the girls. After travelling with the 18 girls to Kenya, Gigi says that they have changed a lot after their intensive training, gaining in confidence and having their looks sharpened. As for her criteria for Miss Photogenic, Gigi says that of course she has to look better than everyone else on camera.

Jessica appeared at yesterday's event in a strappy dress and was very eyecatching, but she explains that this was not to outshone the girls, she was just dressing for the occasion. As a judge for the first time, Jessica will be talking to the girls more so as to get to know them a little better. With her birthday approaching soon, Jessica was asked how she would be celebratig and she says that as she is getting older now, she will not have any special celebration. She would be very happy with just a meal.

Nat appeared at last year's contest wearing his swimming trunks and was criticised by many for his actions. He brought the incident up again yesterday with an air of arrogance as he said: "Wearing my swimsuit was just playing along with the atmosphere, but anyone who does not like me or gets on the wrong side of me will have bad luck, losing their jobs or even their health! This year my wardrobe will total a six figure sum, but who knows if I will still be doing it next year?"

This year's contest will begin by selecting the top eight, who will then be interviewed by the hosts before being eliminated down to four to battle it out for the top three awards. This year's judges will be renowned movie director Johnny To, Jessica Hsuan, Internationally famous violinist Yao Jue and Dr Lee Lok Si. The Miss Photogenic judges will include Jordan Chan, Gigi Leung and Karen Mok. Earlier there were suggestions that Sam Hui might be invited as a special guest judge, but production manager Ho Lai Cheung indicated: "Sam will be involved as a leader of the judges, but we are still discussing the details."

Roger Kwok and Jessica Hsuan were shooting their pictures for next year's TVB calendar yesterday and this is Roger's fourth time in the official calendar, working opposite Jessica for a second time. Roger has just finished filming for "Same Work Same Bowl" and their photo will have the ancient street as their background. After this series, Roger will be heading into the mainland to make more money to get married with and when asked why he does not go away on holiday with his girlfirend, he says that as he has his work fully scheduled for the next couple of weeks, including recording the theme song for "Same Work", so he has to take time out to rehearse and so has no plans to go away to recharge.

Jessica Hsuan and Sunny Chan were filming in Woo Kai Sha yesterday on location for new series "My Wife, Your Honour" and as the weather was extremely hot, whenever she had a break, Jessica was cooling off with her little fan and drinking lots of water. Luckily her great co-star Sunny is very optimistic and often makes the atmosphere very relaxed and comfortable.

Yesterday was also Jessica's birthday and she was asked how she would celebrate after work. She smiled: "I have to work until 3am today before I finish, so I can only celebrate with the crew. In truth, birthdays and festivals do not have much significance. I just want to work more and save some water (money) because I have sweated a lot today. (Will you be making up the celebration later?) I have already had meals with my fans, my boyfriend and my friends and I received a lot of calls today. (What did your boyfriend get you?) I will not say. (Did he give you a surprise?) The surprise was I did not know what it was."

As for her birthday wish, Jessica says: "I wish for good health because it has been twelve years since I entered the industry and my health is getting worse by the year and I have to pay attention to this, so I have now reduced my late night working because not getting enough rest is bad for health, but the work keeps coming in. (why don't you get married sooner then you don't have to work?) No, I love my work, so if I don't work I will become ill and I have just extended my contract with the company. (Do you hope to take the best actress award again?) Actually I am already happy at achieving this award before, so I will not wish for anything because awards are all about being the right person in the right place at the right time and I will not focus my attentions on awards, just on whether I am happy during the filming process."

Also, Jessica has injured the bottom of her spine during filming recently and when asked how she was, she says: "After an X-ray, it showed that there were no fractures, but I have a friends who has had the same injry and at first the X-ray showed it was fine, but it only started to hurt five days later when the MRI scan showed that there was in fact a fracture, so I will be careful over the next few days and not move around too much, but I should be okay. (You are wearing three inch heels for today's shoot, are you not worried this will affect your injury?) I can't help it, my role needs it."

Jessica Hsuan and Dave Wang were filming in Central earlier for new series "My Wife, Your Honour" and Jessica tells of an earlier scene where she has to slap co-star Sunny Chan four times and although the filming went smoothly, she still felt very bad about it afterwards: "I would rather be slapped by someone than be the one doing the slapping because I have heard that if it is not done properly, I could injure his ear. The worst thing was I had to do it whilst Sunny was holding the baby and beforehand I had built a relationship with the baby, but he was so scared that he daren't look at me now!"

Filming in Lan Kwai Fong for "My Wife Your Honour" yesterday, Jessica Hsuan explained that although she is already a mother in the show, Dave Wang plays her boyfriend and they are not having an affair! She smiles: "I have been promoted to 'mother level' and my son is five to six months old. (Is it tough working with children?) Yes, we have to have three babies on hand whenever we film, so there is a replacement when they start crying." She says that she was very afraid of babies in the past, but now she has even learned how to change nappies: "Sunny Chan really loves kids and he is making me grow to like them too, but I am not getting broody yet." Earlier, she fell down some steps when she was filming and she displayed a bruise on her arm: "My bum is a little bruised, but it is minor. Earlier when I was filming for 'A Chinese Ghost Story', I hurt my thigh and even after recovery, there are still some bumps in the muscle."

As for Dave, he says that he has not had enough time to rest, so his voice is a little croaky: "In October, I will be touring in America and Beijing and releasing my album, so I am very afraid of losing my voice. I have not been drinking rehydration formulas though because the most important thing is to have enough rest." He emphasises that apart from working, he has not been out partying late, saying he prefers to get together with a few friends in a quiet bar.

Jessica Hsuan and Selena Li were filming in Central for "My Wife, Your Honour" wearing their power suits and Jessica says that she took part in a poster shoot encouraging people to register to vote, but she then did not send her form off in time and could not vote. "Now I am registered, so I will definitely vote next time." She adds that with the long hours worked by artistes, they lose touch with society, so she will start to try and watch out for news and current affairs to become a smarter voter!

TVB's new series "My Wife, Your Honour" was filming yesterday in Woo Kai Sha for a scene where Sunny Chan's character suspects his wife Jessica Hsuan is being unfaithful to him, so he follows her, but in the end she spots him and causes him to become injured, needing hospital treatment. In real life, Jessica says that she does not like her partner to be overly jealous: "I don't mind my boyfriend going for meals with other female friends because I have trust in him, so if my boyfriend was overly jealous, then I would be angry. Would I be unfaithful? Of course not. I take my hat off to people who two-time because I would not have the time or energy to date two people at once, so it is better to be faithful." Talking of the recent terror attacks in Russia, it makes Jessica wonder if she should have children of her own.

Also, Jessica reveals that after shooting ends for this show in October, the hopes to be able to rest and go diving. She says: "I am currently negotiating three series from China, Taiwan and Singapore, but this year my health has really deteriorated and I am worried that I will be unable to cope. Moreover, each time I work in the Mainland, I come down with gastroenteritis, so after this series, I would like to take some rest first."

Jessica Hsuan, Sunny Chan and last year's "Miss Talent" Selena Li were filming on location at the Kowloon City Courts. However, Selena had quite a lot of NG's [bad takes], causing co-star Jessica to have to re-take too. Luckily Jessica was not upset by this and afterwards, Selena said: "I have not had that many NG's this time, earlier when I was filming a court defence scene, there were even more because the lines were so long." Selena admits that she was rather nervous yesterday because Jessica is an artiste whom she admires a lot for her beauty and intelligence and this put some pressure on Selena. Fortunately, Jessica is very friendly and does not have an attitude. Not only does she chat and laugh, she also gives Selena tips on her performance, so to be able to work with Jessica makes Selena feel very happy.

When Jessica heard that Selena was full of praises for her, she laughed: "I am okay! I just do what I can do and this is nothing major, when I first entered the industry, I reecived a lot of advice from my predecessors, such as Alex Man, who reminded me that even if I was extremely ill, I should still go into work and not call in because this has a big effect on everyone else." Jessica also says that she has been in the industry for over ten years so if she can help others, then she will. Sunny Chan accidentally stood on Jessica during the filming, but she says she will not be mad at him. She adds that Sunny Chan works hard to make everyone happy and he is the spiritual support for the show.

Jessica Hsuan's Diving Encounters

[Ta Kung Pao & Oriental Daily 11/09/04]

Jessica Hsuan and Dave Wang were filming for new series "My Wife, Your Honour" on location yesterday. Jessica indicates that they will finish filming for this show in October and afterwards, she had planned to go with some friends to Indonesia on a diving trip, but with the recent terrorist attacks, they will be choosing another destination. Jessica has already gained her diving licence and often goes out on diving trips with Ray Lui, Alex Fong and a few other artistes. She remembers on one diving trip, they went to a small island in East Malaysia and just the transport took them ten hours because the place was so remote, with just Hong Kong and Japanese tourists there, so they dived without intrusion and she felt very comfortable.

Jessica laughs: "There were no phones in the rooms there and we bathed in salt water. There was not even any need to wear slippers because it was such a close encounter with nature. We had to get up early though because we wanted to see the fish. I even tried swimming with sharks! After learning to dive and finding out that humans cruelly slaughter sharks for their fins, I have started to cut out eating sharks fin now."

When asked whether her boyfriend goes diving with her, she smiles: "No, because he does not know how to dive. (So you don't have common interests?) Our common interest is eating! Anyway, everyone needs their own personal space." Talking of Ray and Monica Chan already gaining their diving instructor licences, Jessica says she has no intentions of applying for it because she says her talents are limited and the sea is another world where there are many dangers even for the very experienced divers.

Jessica Hsuan, Dave Wang, Sunny Chan, Fiona Yuen and Selena Li were among the cast members at the blessing ceremony for "My Wife, Your Honour" yesterday. Jessica indicated that although she was not able to vote on Sunday, she has made preparations for next time, when the LegCo elections come around again: "If I just voted for anyone, then that would be worse because I feel that voting should be done with thought and consideration. I am now doing my homework and see who is good over the next few years. Although I didn't have the chance to vote this time, I have told all my family to go and vote."

Talking of Sammul Chan's unlucky accident on Tseung Kwan O's Wan Po Road, Jessica says that she nearly had an accident in the same place earlier. Jessica says with some reservations: "One night I was heading home after work and suddenly there was a car that went through the red lights and if my reactions were any slower, then we would have crashed. I had thought about feeding this back to the police, at least they can put a camera in."

Also, Fiona appeared at yesterday's event with her mother and it turns out that her mum is great pals with Sunny. Fiona says: "Sunny always teaches my mum how to make soup and they get on really well, so I thought I'd bring her along today so they can have a good chat. Even my boyfriend has not seen my mum before, but he has bought her some bird's nest."

Jessica Hsuan, Sunny Chan and Selena Li were filming in Tai Kok Tsui for "My Wife, Your Honour" yesterday and Jessica reacted to the news of the marriage break up between Hong Kong born Princess Alexandra of Denmark and her husband Prince Joachim, saying that there are too many divorces nowadays, so this does not evoke very strong emotions. She says: "Maybe there have been too many divorces recently, so when I heard this, I did not feel anything. However, this will not affect my visions of marriage because I have never really wished for a fairytale wedding."

Jessica had mild gastroenteritis, but after resting for a night, she is almost fully receovered. She says: "I was going to the toilet constantly that night and finally I could not stand it and skipped location filming to go and see a doctor. The doctor said I had mild gastroenteritis, probably because I am not getting enough sleep, so the infection has entered my digestive system."

well, not exactly...
in the series cold blood warm heart, she was head over heels in love with gallen...and she wasn't the strong and confident type in the series..

[The Sun 26/09/04]

Jessica Hsuan and Monica Chan took part in an event for the "International Clean Shores Day" and although they were dressed in diving gear, they did not go into the water. Monica indicated that she had a minor traffic accident in the water on Wednesday, where she grazed her face and then felt a little dizzy, so she sought hospital treatment. She says: "I can't dive just yet, but it is my hobby for life, so a little break is nothing." She also says that earlier she was shooting a thermal underwear ad in Harbin and she was even more wrapped up than wearing diving gear. She says: "I will also be a spokesperson for an autumn and winter nightwear range, but I won't do the strappy summer designs as I would like to keep my mature lady image!"

As for Jessica, she explains that she is still recovering from flu and is worried that diving would aggrevate her condition, so she did not go in to help with the cleaning operation. She says: "I have always been very supportive of the cleanup on the shores." She believes that Hong Kong people have very little sense of environmental protection and this needs to be promoted more. She also reveals that after filming "My Wife Your Honour". she will be going on a diving expedition with Monica in December.

They look so sweet & loving. They r quite comical in the drama also. clapclap
Hope in future to see they act together in new series.

i found news and pic of Jessica

http://the-sun.com.h...6093014_big.jpg

[The Sun 30/09/04]

Jessica Hsuan has started a boycott on the TVB canteen food recently, but with her colleagues not getting a decent meal either, she has finally spoken out saying: "I don't want something to happen before someone will say anything because it will be too late then."

Always the outspoken one in the crowd, Jessica indicates that the reason she has decided to speak out openly about the poor quality food in the company canteen is because she really can't stand it any longer and she has had a number of bad experiences with the restaurant: "One night, a group of us went to the canteen for dinner and at first I ordered a tomato omelette, but there was a problem with the tomato and they swapped it for a roast pork omelette, but then there was a problem with that as well. Finally, they swapped for four cups of jelly for us and I feel that 'change it for you' is fast becoming their slogan. I don't understand why they don't just return the money, we can put up with it being nasty, but if there is a problem, then this cannot be tolerated."

Jessica also indicates that she knows of many colleagues who are unhappy about the quality of the food and service in the canteen, who have complained, but their problems have never been addressed: "I know that many artistes are afraid of causing trouble and daren't say anything and the backstage crew are afraid this will affect their jobs, so I will speak out for them! I could not say anything, but everyone works so hard in exchange for our food, so I don't want something bad to happen before I speak out, because that would be too late then. I have heard that the food during office hours is much better, but at night, it is a lot worse, so those who work in the offices probably don't experience the bad things as much."

With her sensitive digestion, although Jessica has been woking in TVB City recently, she will try her best to drive back to her home in Clearwater Bay to eat or just eat snacks if she cannot make it back in time. As for Jessica's co-star in "My Wife Your Honour", Sunny Chan, he says in response to the catering problem: "I can't be bothered to talk about it, but if I can, then I will go elsewhere to eat."

[Ta Kung Pao 10/10/04]

Jessica Hsuan was at an event promoting education to the public about mood disorders yesterday. She says she has never been bothered by her moods because she knows how to balance her emotions, but she knows that in Hong Kong, mood disorders are becoming more and more common because the stresses in life are so high. She says openly that everyone can meet with pressure and it is down to whether or not you know how to handle it. She will talk over things with her friends and to have someone who will listen is very important. She also feels that Hong Kong people put too much emphasis on money, but it is not everything.

Talking of a bank that destroyed some of its client's safety deposit box, Jessica reveals that she has put her "My Favourite Female Lead" award in a safety deposit box because items with such great sentimental value cannot be bought with money.

"War and Beauty" has been very popular recently and the female leads are hot favourites to win the award this year. Jessica indicates that she will be entering the contest without any expectations because she has only had one series "A Handful of Love" this year and did not have any special breakthroughs in her performance. She agrees that "War" was outstanding and she does not know who to vote for. As for the male lead award, she feels that Dayo Wong did an excellent job in "To Catch the Uncatchable".

Does anyone know why Jess hasn't had anymore roles come up yet? I was really disappointed with TVB this year for putting her up with just 1 female lead. I really hope they let her show potential next year. Go Jess!!! :worship

in my opinion, personally, she look cute, i mean, she's not bad at all, she's alright, but one the reasons why i like her is because her acting is really, really good. the roles that she gets, she can really relate to them, that's what makes her so good at acting the roles that she gets.

Jessica had two series this year no? A Handful of Love opposite Joe Ma and Lady Fan also with Joe Ma... But competiton is pretty rough this year... And for those of you who are wondering why she doesn't have that many series, I read in the news that she decided on producing one series a year (maybe a bit more, but i'm sure not that many per year)to get back on a healthy track.

[Ta Kung Pao 16/10/04]

Jessica Hsuan took part in a magazine award ceremony earlier and talking of this award being linked with lifestyle and health, how does she see herself winning this award? She indicates that she has reduced her workload lately and tried to do things that she enjoys. However, she says candidly that the award she would most like to receive is one for intelligence: "I have always felt that inner beauty is better than physical beauty."

Jessica took part in the TVB anniversary press conference earlier and cast her vote for this year's awards. Talking of "War and Beauty" being the hot favourte this year, Jessica indicates she has not watched the whole series, but feels that Sheren Tang and Gigi Lai were the best. She says: "Actually, all the female stars in the show did very well, but Sheren and Gigi gave very experienced performances and as they were evil characters who had to use tears to win the hearts of men, it was certainly not easy to do."

On the day of the press event, Sheren wore a red dress that clashed somewhat with production chief Lok Yik Ling's outfit and caused some criticism. Jessica feels that as Sheren was an MC on the day, then there was no problem with wearing red and she laughs that she also wore a red outfit that day. Having once been rumoured to be at odds with Maggie Cheung, what did she think of Maggie's performance? Jessica says that Maggie also did well, but compared to the other female leads, she seemed a little less eyecatching. Just like the Empress Rebecca Chan did very well too. As for whether she is confident of her own success, Jessica says that she only has two series this year, but she is still confident.

she was blind in the end...
if i remembered correctly, there was this operation?
well, it failed..
and she was blind in the end...
that was why when she and bowie went to see the sunrise (or is it the sunset?), bowie was trying his best to describe it to her, but instead...
she told bowie she could see it...with her heart...
