Ethan Ruan reportedly ends his military service at 5pm today 'ď a day earlier than expected. His early end to national service adds on to suspicions that he had an cushy time in the army.
Authorities refuted all speculations of his 'easy time'Ě by clarifying that Ethan was granted an early leave according to normal procedures because he donated one unit of blood.
Throughout his time in the army, the 30-year-old Taiwanese actor remained in the limelight with his seven commercial deals; his role as a lecturer in the arts school; and his relationship with his actress girlfriend Tiffany Hsu.
When asked about her celebration plans for boyfriend Ethan's discharge, Tiffany told the media that she would not be doing anything special as she is currently busy filming upcoming drama Love Me Or Leave Me.
Ethan, on the other hand, will begin filming for Taiwanese director Hou Hsiao Hsien's new movie The Assassin as soon as he returns from an event in Milan tomorrow.

The pop star paid his final respects to the late Taiwanese entertainment tycoon and recalled his 'mischievous'Ě days with his mentor
The late Taiwanese film and television tycoon, Yang Deng Kui had successfully groomed countless young showbiz talents to international stardom and Show Luo was one of them.
The Taiwanese artiste expressed his appreciation towards his mentor for providing him so many opportunities in the entertainment industry. At Deng Kui's memorial ceremony, Show shared, "I've not given up on hosting today because of him [Deng Kui]."
A father figure and friend to Show, the 33-year-old mentioned that Deng Kui "had no airs" and was "just like one of his bosom buddies".
Show added, "There was once he wanted to have tea, but I insisted on drinking Yakult (a Japanese pro-biotic milk-like product). [Deng Kui] was not offended by my mischievous behavior and even offered to buy it for me."
The singer-actor also lamented at that lack of opportunity to personally express his heartfelt gratitude to Deng Kui and saw the importance in cherishing one's loved ones while they are alive.
Deng Kui, 74, suffered from a stroke and passed away on December 31.

Vic Zhou's budding relationship with his rumoured girlfriend, model-actress Reen Yu, was finally revealed when a series of intimate photos surfaced yesterday.
Photographed at the balcony of Vic's new apartment, the Taiwanese pair was reportedly smitten with each other. The actor-singer embraced Reen from the back and gave her a peck on the cheek while they admired the fireworks display on New Year's Eve.
Despite their intimate behaviour, the couple's respective managers have denied their relationship and emphasised they are "just friends".
Vic and Reen have constantly dismissed dating and cohabiting rumours although being spotted together on many occasions since 2010. A new wave of speculations on their alleged relationship started after Reen was seen shuttling in and out of Vic's place last weekend.

Many male fans may be swooning bowled over by Taiwanese songstress Elva Hsiao's charms, but her boyfriend Kai Ko is definitely not one of them.
At the promotional event for his latest romance movie Together in Beijing, Kai sang high praises for his co-star Angelababy, and commented that he shared similar personalities with her.
"Both of us are very bubbly most of the time," he quipped.
When asked to compare the level of attractiveness between Elva and his two onscreen girlfriends Michelle Chen and Angelababy, Kai bluntly replied, "I didn't know [Elva] that well previously. Thus, she can't be my goddess for life."
After the press conference, Kai's manager clarified that the Taiwanese actor was "quoted out of context".
He explained, "Kai meant everyone will have different idols at various stages in their lives."
Rumour has it that Taiwanese actress Sonia Sui returned to her hometown in Nantou to recover from recent hurtful events brought about by ex-boyfriend Yao Yuan Hao's high-profile reconciliation with Cyndi Wang.
When the media contacted Sonia's sister to confirm on the 32-year-old's return to her hometown, Sonia's sister briefly replied that she is unaware of recent happenings as she did not follow the news, refusing to reveal Sonia's whereabouts.
According to the Taiwanese media, the model-turned-actress has been out of contact since she returned to Taiwan from Chengdu a few days ago. Sonia's management is also unable to reach Sonia on her phone despite her empty work schedule.

Singer-actor Show Luo gave his 2013 world tour concert 'ėOver the Limit' a show-stopping finale when he kissed Taiwanese singer-host Pauline Lan and shared the stage with pop princess Jolin Tsai. A total of four shows were organised for this world tour concert, and the third and last show was †held consecutively on the same day. †
At his third show, Show asked Pauline, his special guest performer, for a kiss on behalf of his deceased father. The latter obliged and the two raised temperatures in the concert arena when they shared a kiss on the spot. The 30-year-old artiste made her first public appearance after she was photographed sharing an intimate moment with Taiwanese actor Yao Yuan Hao on New Year's Eve.
Cyndi confessed to news on their reconciliation and mentioned she was touched by the latter's concern when she fell sick in November 2012.
She recalled, "[Yuan Hao's] friend would send chicken soup on his behalf."
When the pair met each other again last month, Cyndi broke down when Yuan Hao promised to "protect her". She was widely speculated as the third party when Yuan Hao announced his break up from model, Sonia Sui in February last year.
The Taiwanese singer-actress has since decided to give both of them another chance and they rekindled their relationship soon after.
Cyndi was unfazed towards the public's negative comments about the couple's relationship and mentioned, "I have no regrets. I'll bear the consequences."

Taiwanese artistes expressed their grief at the Taiwan entertainment tycoon's farewell ceremony
Famous Taiwan film and television tycoon Yang Deng Kui, 74, suffered from a stroke and passed away on December 31.
Many Taiwanese artistes and celebrity pals attended his farewell ceremony and bade him a tearful final goodbye yesterday.
Ella Chen, who made a low-key entrance early in the morning, appeared solemn and wore shades to cover her swollen eyes as a result from crying. Ella became acquainted with Deng Kui when she filmed for the movie Perfect Two.
Veteran host Zhang Xiao Yan could not hold back her tears and broke down when she recalled his efforts to support the younger generation and let them shine in the showbiz industry.
Although both of them have never worked together before, Xiao Yan commented Deng Kui was like a "big brother who always kept to his promise".
Deng Kui's management company revealed his good friends will be holding a memorial concert on January 28. His son, Yang Zhong Xian, singer Jody Chiang and many other artistes will also be performing on that day.

The Taiwanese veteran artiste caused a stir online when he unintentionally made homosexual remarks onstage
Harlem Yu got slammed by netizens after he performed at the countdown concert in Taipei on New Year's Eve.
While singing his pop ballad "Only For You", Harlem commented, "I would like to dedicate this song to all the couples who are present tonight. By that, I mean a male and a female, not two males, two females or whatsoever."
Netizens were immediately outraged by his remarks and felt unhappy that he allegedly discriminated homosexuals in public.
Netizens remained unappeased even after Harlem's manager's clarification stating that the singer-host "meant no harm when he made those comments. He has supported such [homosexuality] events in the past too."
Hong Kong socialite Gigi Chao, who has recently announced her homosexuality, has also indirectly criticized Harlem as "ignorant" and his comments were "nonsensical".

The film SAVING GENERAL YANG (JUNG LIT YEUNG GA JEUNG)'s theme song I SUPPORT YOU (NGOR TING NEI) will have popular Korean group Super Junior-M as its performers. The song theme is brotherly love, in coordination with the Korean storm beats it injects a period feel. The singers in the cast reportedly will perform the Korean version.
SJ-M will perform I SUPPORT YOU in Putonghua. This song will also be recorded in their new record. On January 7 they will have a new record press conference in Beijing.
