Local songbird Stefanie Sun safely welcomed her first child at noon yesterday. The 3.4kg baby boy was delivered naturally after being carried to a full-term pregnancy. Her son's name has not been revealed at press time.
Stefanie's company, Make Music, has expressed that she will be taking a break for four months to care for her newborn son. During that time, she will not be accepting any interviews and work-related inquiries.
She is slated to make her return to showbiz in April next year, subject to changes depending on mother and son's health.

Stefanie Sun, who is in her 10th month of pregnancy, is set to give birth anytime now. Previously, she was rumoured to have already delivered a baby girl. Last Friday, however, a netizen posted a latest photo of the 34-year-old online, refuting such rumours.
The photo showed the massively pregnant singer taking a stroll at the Singapore Botanic Gardens, accompanied by her father and his friend.
Aside from her bulging belly, Stefanie still looked slender as ever while clad in a sleeveless dress.
While all eyes are set on Stefanie's delivery date, her manager has assured everyone that the public will be informed once there is good news.

SINGAPORE - Scandals can't touch these South Korean dudes, it seems.
BigBang proved that they were still darlings in the eyes of their screaming fans at their first full-length gig in Singapore last Friday - tickets reportedly sold out within 10 minutes.
The overwhelming demand prompted organiser Lushington Entertainments to add another show to the Singapore leg of the BigBang Alive Galaxy Tour. That show, which took place last Saturday, was also sold out.
The quintet - comprising G-Dragon, T.O.P, Taeyang, Daesung and Seungri, who are aged between 21 and 24 - are no strangers to controversy.
About three weeks ago, youngest member Seungri was the subject of a woman's salacious one-night-stand allegation, published in a Japanese tabloid magazine.
Last year, group leader G-Dragon tested positive for smoking marijuana and singer Daesung was involved in a car accident in which a motorcyclist died. Both were not charged.
Yet, it is amazing how loyal their fans were in expressing their undying support throughout the two-hour gig.
From the moment the lights dimmed, the stadium was transformed into a sea of crown- shaped glow sticks.
Just prior to the concert, I spotted long queues of concert-goers snapping up the band's official light sticks at $35 a pop at the paraphernalia booths outside the venue.
I found out from one die-hard fan, a female executive in her 20s, that she had pre-ordered her light sticks online months in advance and had also bought tickets to both sold-out shows of the Singapore leg.
To be honest, I've never quite understood the appeal of BigBang, bewildered by their bizarre fashion sense of clashing- colour outfits and brightly dyed hair, ..... (article cut to save bandwidth)

SINGAPORE: "To be able to meet Big Bang is a miracle to me, so I'm going to tell them how I feel about them...I'm going to let it all out," proclaimed Singapore actress Ann Kok, who introduced herself in faltering Korean.
"I love Big Bang very much!
"I love your music, the way you sing, dance and rap. The way you dress is [also] just fantastic," said Kok in the presence of a room full of media at Big Bang's press conference at Stellar at 1-Altitude on Thursday night.
The 39-year-old actress added that she is "so in love with the song 'Missing you'" that she is dreaming like she is "one of the girls in the music video."
Then, she popped her key question.
"Do you think there's any possibility that I can be featured in [one of] your music video?" Kok asked hopefully, gathering hoards of cheers from around the room.
To that, leader of the Korean boy band G-dragon replied, "Sure, there are opportunities… If you do get the chance [to be featured in our music video], it'll be our honour too."
"But firstly, you would have to go for our audition," quipped G-Dragon, before hiding his smiling face behind his hands.
Rapper of the band T.O.P added that most of the ladies who are featured in their music videos all look sensual and have a sexy, hip-hop image.
ty also confessed his love and admiration for the singers.
"I am a big bang fan!" Singapore actor Romeo Tan told channelnewsasia.com.
"I'm actually in love with the two big groups of YG [Entertainment] – 2NE1 and Big Bang!"

The ex-singer has refuted claims that her cakes are sold almost a month after production
Stella Huang set up luxury cake chain Black As Chocolate after bowing out of the entertainment industry but was recently hit by claims that her cakes are kept up to 23 days before being put on the shelf. The ex-singer uploaded a video to clarify matters but has ended up fanning the flames of controversy.
In the video, she claimed that “a large proportion” of the cakes that are sold in her shop are made fresh every day and only “a small number” of them are sold after being defrosted, drawing the ire of netizens who have called her clarification “a word game”.
The 31-year-old is currently in confinement after the birth of her first child and her brother, who is the vice-president of her cake chain, invited members of the media to a tour of their central bakery. At the media visit, he was unable to answer questions on their products’ freshness and expiry dates.
He had previously stated that “chocolate cakes can be frozen for 15 days before being thawed and sold” but panicked when questioned if their cakes were made and sold on the same day by food safety inspectors. He replied, “This is a secret, I can’t reveal anything.”
Stella’s brother had originally agreed to sit down with reporters for interviews but quickly slipped away, causing much confusion at the venue. This incident has caused netizens to fume, calling him irresponsible.
Ex-employees have claimed that the Singaporean's cakes are not as fresh as they seem
When it comes to food, people often take careful note of the production and expiry dates. The NT$900 (S$37) cakes in Black as Chocolate, Stella Huang's chain of cake shops, are not labelled with this information, but the store has stated that their goods are baked fresh every day.
In a startling new report, however, ex-employees of the franchise have claimed that the cakes can be frozen for up to 15 days after production, and given a shelf life of eight days after being defrosted. In total, this adds up to a staggering 23 possible days between the cake’s production and when it is sold to consumers.
In response to the allegations, Black As Chocolate’s official Facebook page has stated, “Every cake is freshly made on the day itself.”
Stella Huang, who is currently in confinement, has replied on her official website, “I have never instructed my employees to tell customers that our cakes are baked freshly every day; nor have I made this claim in advertorial material (sic)”.

The Korean actor proves to us why he's the perfect boy to bring home to mum, bound to please with his toothy grin and goody two-shoes conduct

'Am I perfect? Thank you very much. It's nice to hear that people think I'm perfect.'
That was the question he directed back to us when we brought up his 'Perfect Namja (man in Korean)' nickname and posed him a question regarding his most rebellious act to-date - with regards to his perfect man status and identity amongst fans today.
Did we get an answer to our question? Well, not really... But not that it mattered to the 300-strong crowd of fans who flew in from all over Asia (Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines and counting) to attend his first Asia fan meet and open press conference held in Marina Square yesterday evening.
After taking on a string of drama roles (Brilliant Legacy, My Girlfriend is a Nine-Tailed Fox, and King 2 Hearts) with strikingly similar traits (read: rebellious kid turns over a new leaf), it seems like the award-winning actor wants to jump out of his usual stereotypical roles.
Yet to 'fix a [new drama] role', Seungi shared that he'd love to try being a 'manly character' for a change. And he's not stopping at mere masculine-like characteristics and instead aims at being the 'alpha male'.
'Killer? That's another way of saying manly. Inspector? I like it but... I'm talking about something more beastly,' he chuckled.

SINGAPORE: She has released international hits such as "I'm Like a Bird" and "Maneater", but Canadian singer-songwriter Nelly Furtado is looking to go even further by collaborating with K-pop artistes.
However, there is just one catch.
"All the K-pop artistes are making their careers over here in Asia, so the average K-pop artiste is not that easy to phone up," said Furtado, who described herself as being "obsessed with J-pop and K-pop" recently.
She even demonstrated a few dance moves from Korean singer Psy's "Gangnam Style" music video, when she was in Singapore to promote her upcoming fifth album "The Spirit Indestructible" earlier this week.
Furtado revealed that she had originally wanted to work with Korean boy band Big Bang's T.O.P on her new song "Big Hoops", but the plan fell through.
Still, she isn't giving up.
"It's in the works! We'll see what happens but I [do] foresee a collaboration of some kind with a J-pop or K-pop artiste coming soon," said Furtado.
Apart from T.O.P, Furtado also wants to collaborate with American singer-songwriter Katy Perry and producer-song writer GoonRock, who has worked with the likes of LMFAO and Jennifer Lopez, as well as many others.
Alas, it's easier said than done.
"I have a lot of ideas, but I just need time … And a studio in my tour bus!" quipped Furtado, who will have her hands full with promotional tours for her new album in the coming months.
Fortunately for the 33-year-old star, she won't be going on tour alone – she plans to take her eight-year-old daughter Nevis Chetan Furtado with her.
"I'm looking forward to actually touring with my daughter again for a little while. I think it's going to ..... (article cut to save bandwidth)
Known for their bubblegum pop songs and catchy dances, one of Korea's top girl groups will return to Singapore with a one-night only performance
Out of sight but not out of mind, it's been close to two years since the Wonder Girls' visit to Singapore in 2010 as they furthered their singing careers in the US. The highly-successful K-Pop girl group will be making their way back to this little red dot for a full-scale one-night only performance on Sep 8 (Sat) at Resorts World Convention Centre, Compass Ballroom on Sentosa.
Wonderfuls (name for Wonder Girls' fans), this is something you don't want to miss out on.
For those lamenting at the group's inactive presence in the Korean music scene, the girls will be bringing the highly-anticipated Wonder World 2012 concert to Singapore. This is the Wonder Girls' first full solo gig in Singapore and the members, consisting of leader Sun, rapper Yubin, vocalist Yenny, Lim and Sohee, have vowed to showcase the best of what they have learnt and experienced during their stint overseas.
A rep from JYP Entertainment expressed, "Wonder Girls' Wonder World Tour will capture everything from the girls, who have grown through their promotions overseas," and promised that the concert will feature "the music and dance that everyone loves".
[left]The host of new gameshow Sasuke Singapore speaks about being thankful she only has to host, plus beau Bobby Tonelli says there is ‘no competition’ over Joanne nabbing the gig he also auditioned for[/left]
A sprightly Joanne Peh enters the Sasuke Singapore set at Sentosa on 22 June all guns blazing to film Episode 1, although the sun has been merciless to her scalp. She was filming for the previous two days to harsh ultraviolet rays, but her burnt scalp - Instagrammed on her account, mind you - is the least of her worries.
When asked by xinmsn during filming break if she has tried the obstacle course, Joanne broke into a sheepish grin and admitted her worries at going for a spin. "I see some girls who have done it get rope burns and I'm quite gu niang in that way, so I don't really want to get scars and cuts. I'm crossing my fingers. I don't think it's a requirement for the host to do the course," she justified.
It looks like there are more dangers than it seems, lurking on the Sasuke Singapore obstacle course. A mixture of celebrity contestants, new Singapore citizens and athletes will join the other contestants to power through the grueling course in record time. The winner will represent Singapore in the Sasuke competition in Japan.
The original Sasuke and Ninja Warrior versions do not have a prominent host in the show and Joanne Peh hopes to fill that void. She wants to flesh out the contestants' personal stories and ease camera-shy contestants to 'show some energy on camera'. She also agreed that she feels for the contestants on the show.
"I get very nervous for them before the buzzer goes off... I can't ..... (article cut to save bandwidth)
