Hayden Panettiere has confessed she feared her career could have been over when Heroes was axed in 2010.
The 24-year-old actress had her big break starring as invincible cheerleader Claire Bennet in the sci fi show in 2006.
Hayden now stars as scheming country music star Juliette Barnes in hit ABC show Nashville. But she admitted there was a time when she wondered if she was ever going to get another good role.
"It hit me like a ton of bricks: There is a genuine possibility that no one will ever take another chance on me," she admitted
"That was an important gap between Heroes and this show, a huge transition to make gracefully. I don't know how gracefully I did it, but somehow I did."
But fortunately Nashville came along.
Hayden admitted: "Nashville was perfect timing with the perfect character. Juliette is so not the good girl that I played on Heroes, but she has to put on the facade as a good girl to get what she wants. Juliette is tough, but when she cries, she means it: She's a very damaged young woman running from a dark past. How much more perfect could I ask for?"
Hayden revealed she has drawn on personal experience to play Juliette, but insists she is nothing like her in real life.
She revealed: "A lot of what I've drawn from is my own personal experience. I grew up in the entertainment industry, in the spotlight, and have had to deal with some of the same struggles. In this business, there are so many doors wide open to walk through and it looks like the normal thing to do. The difference is, I've always had people around me to yank me back before I ..... Susan Boyle has collaborated with Elvis Presley for her upcoming Christmas Single.
The Britain's Got Talent star sings alongside a recording of the King of Rock and Roll on the track Oh Come All Ye Faithful.
All royalties from the record will go to the charity Save The Children.
Boyle told Sky News that becoming the first British artist to have a posthumous duet with Presley was a career highlight.
"I'm very honoured, it's a bit surreal, awe-inspiring and awesome," she said. "Not everyone gets the chance to do a duet with him."
She said she had always been a fan of the legendary artist.
"I remember his music being played in the house growing up quite a lot - and I used to love going to see some of his films," she said.
In a recorded message at a central London news conference, where the single was announced, Britain's Got Talent supremo Simon Cowell said he was proud of the star.
"No one of all the people I've met has a bigger heart than you," he told her.
Oh Come All Ye Faithful - which appears on Boyle's fifth album, Home For Christmas - will be released on December 8.

Chris Brown has been released from custody after appearing in court over allegations he punched a man who tried to pose for a photograph with him.
The Grammy Award-winning singer had been charged with a felony assault over the incident, but this was later reduced to a misdemeanour.
The alleged attack took place outside the W Hotel on K Street in Washington at around 4.30am on Sunday morning.
A 20-year-old man told police he had tried to take a picture with Brown and two women when Brown told him: "I ain't down with that gay ****" and "I feel like boxing", according to court documents.
The man, Parker Isaac Adams, claims he was hit by both Brown and the singer's bodyguard, Chris Hollosy.
But speaking outside court, Brown's lawyer, Danny Onorato, said his client had committed no crime.
"We understand that his security acted to protect Mr Brown and Mr Brown's property as he was authorised to do under District of Columbia law.
"We are confident that Mr Brown will be exonerated of any wrongdoing."
In August, Brown, 24, was ordered to do 1,000 hours of community service after his probation stemming from a 2009 assault on his ex-girlfriend Rihanna was restored.
Any arrest could be considered a violation of that probation, which could see him spending time behind bars.

Miley Cyrus has said she won't let her split from fiance Liam Hemsworth put a stop to enjoying her time in the spotlight.
The Wrecking Ball singer broke up with Hunger Games star Liam in September, but a day after the split was announced he was snapped kissing Mexican singer-actress Eiza Gonzalez.
Miley, 20, told Cosmopolitan US: "I need to treat my music like a relationship - give it my time and all the attention it deserves - and that's my main love right now.
"This is the best time of my life. I'm not going to look back on it and be like, 'I wish I hadn't been dwelling over a breakup,' you know? Because that's not what God wants my life to be about right now.
"God wants my life to be about being successful and being happy and blessing other people and being blessed."
She continued: "I'm just having the best time ever and everything's falling into place like it's supposed to. Even people who want to hate on me, they can't even shut down the fact that I'm literally what everyone is talking about.
"I don't want to say that I'm on top right now - I feel like I'm kind of an underdog in a cool way. It's almost punk rock to like me because it's not the right thing to do. Like, society wants to shut me down."
Asked how she felt about other celebrities criticising her MTV VMA performance where she wore a nude latex bikini and twerked at Robin Thicke, Miley said: "I don't really care. I think everyone would have given anything to be me at that moment, because I was being one hundred per cent true to myself... and not many people can ..... (article cut to save bandwidth)
"Betrayal," Harold Pinter's drama about marital infidelity starring James Bond actor Daniel Craig and his real-life wife Rachel Weisz, is one of the hottest plays on Broadway and critics said on Monday it is worth the price of the ticket.
Craig, 45, plays the cuckolded Robert, while Weisz, a best supporting actress Oscar winner for 2005's "Constant Gardener," is Emma, the wife who betrays him by having a seven-year affair with his best friend.
The play, the first stage collaboration for the celebrity couple since their marriage, opened on Sunday night.
"Anyone who shelled out the big bucks to see James Bond in the flesh will get more than they bargained for in Mike Nichols' impeccable revival of 'Betrayal,'" said the trade publication Variety.
The New York Daily News praised Craig and Weisz, 43, for the star power they brought to the play, which also stars British actor Rafe Spall, 30, as the third part of the love triangle.
"The big-screen James Bond and the 'Constant Gardener' Oscar winner are smashing and sexy in Mike Nichols' graceful and stealthily devastating production of Pinter's autobiographical play," it said.
The Independent newspaper of London described the production as a commercial phenomenon and tickets are selling on unofficial websites for more than $650 each. The performances by Craig and Weisz, it added, "render it a Betrayal on fire."
"Nichols's crude and chaotic depiction of the love triangle is powerfully compelling theatre - enhanced, one feels, by the real-life frisson supplied by the onstage sparring of Weisz and Craig," it said.
END OF THE AFFAIR
"Betrayal," which set a box-office record for its first week of preview performances, is based on Pinter's affair in the 1960s with British broadcaster Joan Bakewell.

Matthew Lewis has joined the cast of bomb disposal comedy Bluestone 42.
The Harry Potter star, who played Neville Longbottom in the teenage wizard's film adventures, will play an ammunition technician in the BBC Three show set on the front line in Afghanistan.
He said: " I'm really excited to be joining the cast of Bluestone 42. I watched the first series and remember thinking that I'd love to be part of a show like that. It's a comedy and it aims to make people laugh but it's not trivialised. The issues that are dealt with are serious issues.
"I'm playing Corporal Gordon House who is effectively Captain Medhurst's number two. He's a Yorkshireman with a bit of a class chip on his shoulder but he's a great bloke and a very good soldier. He's a lad and loves getting stuck in with the banter - especially giving Medhurst stick for being a posh public schoolboy."
The second series of the show starts filming this month and returns with a Christmas special then six more episodes next year.

Despicable Me 2 has grossed over $900 million (£560 million) worldwide.
The film has far outstripped initial predictions that it would make $500 million (£310 million) for Universal Pictures.
The sequel is currently the second most successful film of 2013, behind Marvel Studios' Iron Man 3, which has grossed $1.2 billion (£740 million).
Despicable Me 2 is also now the fifth highest-grossing animated movie of all time.
Fast & Furious 6 is the third top-grossing film of 2013, while Monsters University and Man of Steel complete the top five.
The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel's sequel will begin filming in January.
Penelope Wilton - who played Jean in the hit 2011 film - revealed that Judi Dench, Bill Nighy and Maggie Smith will all return for the new film.
She told Radio Times: "We had a wonderful time shooting this film the first time and I am thrilled we will be going back in January to do another one. As far as I know everybody will be returning."
Writer Ol Parker has returned to pen the sequel and it is thought that the same production team will work on the project.
Parker has previously admitted that none of the cast or crew expected Fox to give the green light to a sequel.
He said: "None of us thought so. But yes, the cast all really want to which is nice, and now it's not a surprise that Fox want to because obviously it did business."
The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel proved to be a major box office success, taking $130 million (£83m) worldwide.
Cameron Diaz and Milla Jovovich are said to be in talks to join the Expendables female spin-off.
The all-actress version of the Sylvester Stallone action series - known as The Expendabelles - is currently being developed by producer Avi Lerner.
Lerner has revealed to Standart that he has entered discussions with several stars about the project.
Meryl Streep has also been named as a possible actress to lead the movie.
He said: "There will be battles, special and visual effects and stunts - the spectacle will be equivalent to what Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jason Statham, Harrison Ford, Mel Gibson and Jean Claude Van Damme have done.
"Two excellent screenwriters are already working on the picture. Now we are in search of a female director."
Legally Blonde writers Karen McCullah and Kirsten Smith have joined the project as screenwriters.
Fast & Furious 6 star Gina Carano joined the movie as the lead actress last year, while Battlestar Galactica's Katee Sackhoff is also said to be part of the project.

Sir Paul McCartney has revealed that he and Yoko Ono have reconciled.
Ono, 80, has often been blamed for the breakup of The Beatles, through her relationship with late husband John Lennon.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, McCartney said that he and Ono have put aside any differences they had in the past.
He said: "She's badass. I thought, 'If John loved her, there's got to be something. He's not stupid'. It's like, what are you going to do? Are you going to hold a grudge you never really had?"
Last year, the rocker admitted that Ono did not break up the band, saying: "She certainly didn't break the group up, the group was breaking up."
Speaking to The Guardian, Ono expressed that she was "shocked" at his words.
She added: "I thought, 'Now you are saying it? Now, after 40 years?'
"But it was very good. In the atmosphere that the world created for us, it was not easy for him to say something like that."
McCartney unveiled his star-filled video for 'Queenie Eye' last week. The song is taken from his latest album New, which is out now.
