Last night at the RTHK music awards, Jade Kwan left empty-handed. She later declared on Weibo that she cannot persist any further, "Any harder I try, in the end I end up in disappointment…I don't want to persist any further, just hope to live my life happily as Mrs. Yeung!" She admitted in an interview that she is disappointed: "I have decided from next year on, I will not attend a single music award ceremony, but this absolutely does not mean I'm retiring from the music industry. Although I haven't told my record company yet, I believe they will support me. I really feel exhausted! " Jade expressed she will work hard for another year for her fans, company and colleagues, "It was previously reported that I had a chance to win an award, and I did have some confidence because last year I completed two concerts and released two albums. My album was selling pretty well, it got Gold Disc. I hoped to get an award or at least a song award!" Following Alan Tam and Leon Lai, Jade is the third singer to announce she's boycotting the music awards.
Earlier it was rumored she'll get the Female Singer award, was it the greater the hope, the greater the disappointment for her? She said: "Female singer award is nonsense, but I thought i had the chance to get the Top 10 Outstanding or the song award, but it turns out the music industry didn't give me an opportunity. I feel helpless! I don't know how to play on, nor do I want to continue playing on." She expressed she and Neway have a short-term contract and once she completes her current jobs, she will go on break starting from Lunar New Year. She will take good care of her body and concentrate entirely on her big plans of having a baby.
Jade frankly expressed: "How many singers can get pass 11 years? I didn't have a baby yet because of singing, but I can no longer wait. It is really difficult for me!" She 'encouraged' other singers: "If there are other singers whom have the same thought as me, I encourage them to find an appropriate place and make their own music."
Kay Tse: Not Singing to get Awards
Good friends Kay Tse and Joyce Cheng responded to Jade's decision to give up on music awards. Kay said: "I respect her decision. Actually, we're not singing to get awards, don't place such heavy emphasis on awards. Put your heart into the singing and there will definitely be people who understands music." When asked if she felt its a pity Jade's giving up? She said she has no comment. Joyce was initially worried that her 'sister' (Jade) was thinking of retiring from the industry, but when she learned Jade's just giving up on the music awards, she was relieved. She praised Jade's concert last year and thought her 'sister' is very hardworking. She understands her feeling "the greater the hope, the greater the disappointment" and hopes she won't be too upset about it. When asked if she feels Jade should get an award? She expressed: "Jade is better than me, I don't even get to go to the music award ceremonies. Actually, singers who have put in the effort into their music, of course winning the award will be a source of encouragement. I understand her disappointed feeling." Joyce hoped Jade continues to add oil and urged the media to go easy on her.

Also if she were to plug more songs then it might be better. She used that single the entire year. It;s a good idea i guess, but this song was a cover song so it already lowers the quality. Also, its her fans that keep posting stuff online saying that she will win big awards. It started since the beginning of the year. First, her fans keep saying she will win most popular female in JSG then Gold song gold then best female singer in RTHK. Im getting sick of them. They are overhyping Jade’s popularity this year. Comparing to other fmeale singers, Fiona, Kary, G.E.M. , and even Janice has better performance then her.
I always feel that Jade and Janice are in the same boat. Both of them have extreme talent in singing, but never wins much awards. However, if Janice could not get a big award then Jade can;t either. Altho Janice was not as active she still release an album and hold a concert at Star Hall this yer. Janice got two number one songs at RTHK chart this year. If Janice can;t even win at RTHK, then Jade cant either cause her songs barley charted on RTHK. This is just what I think. Partly of Jades failure torwards the end is the overhyping from fans in which Jade believes them that she will win big awards this year.
