I've learned a few words from anime, but not too much. If you really want to try and learn japanese, there is this torrent that contains several programs to teach you how to write and speak Japanese. It's about 6-7 gigs of information, but you can choose which programs to use and which not to use. There are programs like Pimsleur Japanese I, II, III, Let's Learn Japanese Basic I, II and etc.

If you want to give it a try you can either go to http://isohunt.com and search "Learn Japanese"

or just directly download it with
http://isohunt.com/d...e=bt&id=5551834 or http://isohunt.com/d...e=bt&id=5228764

I have the programs as well, but I haven't had the time to use them. I have Pimsleur's Mandarin I, II, II and Cantonese I to try out first. The programs are very popular and suppose to be the best self teaching programs out there. Hope it helps some of you.

e.g. kuruma =car

Can someone please help proofread a piece of writing I wrote for my Speaking test at school?

hmm...well...it should be pretty easy once u memorise your hiraganas and katakanas...and for chinese, you don't even have to learn the kanji anymore...so yea...i think it's pretty easy...but it also depends on the teacher...my japanese teacher is a japanese but she can speak really good english...so yea...it would probably help a lot if your teacher could speak good english...

kirei means beautiful when referring to people, e.g. kirei na jyosei = beautiful girl. it also means clean and tidy when you use it to describe cleanliness of a place.

kirei da = kirei desu = is beautiful

'desu' would be more polite and formal as compared with 'da'. in casual conversation with frens or peers, you can use 'da' though. if you watch japanese series, you can often hear these two.

I just want to learn the language so I can watch the movies without the help of subtitles (which are very helpful, helps me learn new words sometimes).

In English we would call someone hot, cool, or cute. In Japanese how would we say and write that?
